Hello! My name is Shelby Alm. The 2024-2025 school year marks my second year as an educator, and my second year here at Kruse Elementary. I couldn't be happier to call Kruse my home away from home.
I graduated from Colorado State University in 2014 with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as minor in Spanish. I completed my teacher prep program at Western Colorado University in the spring of 2023. Between my studies, I worked in a childcare center, and then as a full time nanny for many families. I've also been a yoga teacher for 10 years! It's a dream come true to have my own classroom this year at Kruse and to teach all of my amazing students.
It's important to me that my classroom feel welcoming and comforting for my students. I want my students to feel seen, heard, valued, worthy, and loved. Building and reinforcing classroom culture and community through relationships and social-emotional learning are integral parts of my teaching philosophy, and I believe that the best classroom management happens when students see themselves reflected in the culture and take pride in creating a safe, respectful environment for everyone.
My mantra: All behavior is a form of communication.
GO COUGARS!
