Kruse Elementary is gearing up for an exciting week of reading fun with Read Across Kruse! Get ready for a week filled with books, stories, and friendly competition as we encourage our students to dive into the joy of reading. Whether you're a student, parent, or teacher, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join us in making this an unforgettable experience!

Readathon Logs

Just like in years past, we’re hosting a friendly reading competition! Students will log their daily reading minutes, both at home and at school. And guess what? All reading counts! Whether it's reading math word problems, enjoying a read-aloud, writing time, daily reading time, lit club, or any other classroom reading activity—every minute matters!

Event Schedule

📚 Tuesday, March 4 – Grade Level DEAR Times
Let’s Drop Everything And Read (DEAR)! Each grade level will gather in the library to enjoy a special reading time together. Here’s the schedule:

  • 9:20-9:35 ~ 4th Grade

  • 10:00-10:15 ~ 5th Grade

  • 10:20-10:35 ~ 1st Grade

  • 10:40-10:55 ~ Kindergarten

  • 11:00-11:15 ~ 3rd Grade

  • 1:15-1:30 ~ 2nd Grade

📚 Wednesday, March 5 – Book Swap Day
Students will have the chance to pick a new book from the selection lined up around the school! Parents, encourage your child to participate and find a book that sparks their imagination. 

📚 Thursday, March 6 – Mystery/Guest Reader Day
Teachers can invite a special guest reader to their classrooms! Parents, this is a great opportunity to surprise your child by reading to their class. This could be a family member, a school leader, or even a surprise guest! 

📚 Friday, March 7 – Readathon Day!
Time for a full-on reading celebration! Each class will host its own Readathon, and teachers can decide how to make it extra special.
